Your Story Matters!

Welcome to Pikes Peak Country in Colorado Springs!  If you have come over on the blog hop from Danielle, glad you made the trip!  If you have arrived here by happenstance and would like to join in, here is the full list so you can start and stop whenever you want!

Lain Ehmann: http://layoutaday.com
Heather Dubarry:  noexcusescrapbooking.com
Monica Bradford: http://scrapinspired.com/
Paivi Eerola:  www.peonyandparakeet.com

Does your story matter??  You bet it does!  As a member of Lain Ehmann's ScrapHappy group, we were invited to submit layouts about our everyday life for a Scraphappy Cookbook.  I had never submitted anything before and thought why not?  Let's move outside the scrapping box and see what happens.  What a great way to have others see something I had put together that previously had only been seen by friends and family.

My layout is about my connection with my iPhone.  Who knew that this little device would become so important in staying connected to the world!  I got my very first one last May and to be realistic, I hardly use the phone.  Love the camera, the apps, the ability to stay connected through email, texting and the Internet.
Getting to know Siri, the computer helper, has been so much fun, even my son likes to talk to her, though she rarely understands him.  Sirii calls me "Goddess."  Yes, I programmed it to say that.  So nice to hear that sometimes when my DH isn't available and I'm having a bad day to be able to hear those words!
The ScrapHappy Cookbook has now emerged into "Your Story Matters, 25 Memories to Capture Now," and I am so proud to be a part of this and say that "I am published!"  Our collaborative ScrapHappy group effort is now available for purchase and will be delivered to you via electronic download.

The introductory price is $7 available at http://www.layoutaday.com/ysmebook/ and the group will be
giving away THREE copies of the book from comments made on ALL blogs (in other words, we will select three winners across all blogs). Leave a comment about what story you feel is critical for every scrapbooker to document. Contest will close 1/19 and winners will be announced on the Layoutaday blog http://www.layoutaday.com on Monday, Jan. 21. Prizes must be claimed by Wednesday, 1/23.

As a special bonus for visiting the bloghop, ScrapHappy will be offering a $2 off coupon good until midnight on 1/21/13.  If you purchase a copy of the book, but then win one in the contest, no worries!  Your money will be refunded so you have nothing to lose!  The coupon code is: HOP.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog today.  If you are following the hop, head on over to see what Monica Bradford is up to!   http://scrapinspired.com/

  3. Good morning to my Pikes Peak friend! I giggled when I read that Suri calls you "goddess" and you like that if your husband is away. So my question is, does he call you that all the time? I'm going to have to work on this. :)

  5. Ok so how did you program Suri to call you Goddess that is a must know for me. I would program her to call me Ms Amazing!!! I love my iphone as well and all technology and never thought about scrapbooking about that either. I think everyone's blog post so far has inspired me to scrap about something so I will just add my love of technology to the list! Great layout and I hope you continue to enjoy your phone!

    1. Basically, push the button to talk to Siri and tell her call me (blank). She will repeat it and ask you if that is okay, and you say yes or no. Pretty easy?

I learned about this at a crop. Another scrapbooker had her phone call her princess, her boys had programmed it, and I thought it was pretty cool!

  6. Hilarious...is it "safe" to laugh "with" a Goddess?

  7. Well, hello Goddess! Did you ever think that you would document a conversation with an electronic device?!? This is so much fun!

  9. Great way to document YOUR story! I commented on Lain’s post that my own story and the story of my children’s young years are especially important to document, since no one else knows the details like I do.

  11. Great page, Goddess! Love that, btw. Love the prompt as technology is so huge to us nowadays. Thank you! I feel the everyday things (like your relationship with Siri and your phone) are so important to document! Also, hopes, dreams, fears and wishes.

  17. Love that you chose to scrap about your connection with your iPhone. Technology is such a large part of our lives and yet we don't scrap it much!

  18. It will be fun for those in the future to see what was our "high tech" compared to what they will have
Thanks for the chance to win

  19. I wonder if we would ever have known your phone calls you goddess had it not been for this page? Probably not :) What a great fun LO and one that shows just how much fun you have with your iphone! So pleased to have been part of this with you Cathy!

  20. If other scrappers are like me, they document everyone ELSE'S life and not their own. I think it's important to do a page listing little-known facts about YOU (and you did that here, I love it!). I did that once, and even good friends were surprised by some of the things I put down. I still love that page, and I did that two years ago.

  21. The important thing for me right now is to include journaling on each page I do. I believe that feelings and emotions should be journaled too wherever possible too.

  22. I believe every scrapper should scrap something that they are passionate about! If you don't have a passion???? Ask God for it! He will surely give you one and it may just be HIM! Many blessings and congrats on being published.

  23. Picking something precious to you should be scrapbooked. What a great way to have your great, great grandchildren get to know you at this time in your life!! Thanks for the opportunity!

  24. I love your layout and the iphone theme; this is so cute, too!

    Congrats on being published!!

Thanks for the chance to win this special gift!!

  25. Totally a terrific layout in so many ways. You captured 'you' and that is the most terrific thing, and then you captured technology as it is today- again, terrific. GREAT job- this e-book looks TERRIFIC too! Smiles ~ Janet
